The Primal Blueprint is a great concept. Eat what a caveman would have ate, move like a caveman would have moved, and one day you will be as physically fit as a caveman. Unfortunately, in our modern age it isn't always easy for the caveman to achieve this level of freedom. Free-range, grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, and organic vegetables are expensive. Working out will get you some seriously weird looks. And many of us are stuck in non-Primal families who will throw a fit if we don't add "a little bit of beans/grain" to their everyday meals.
The focus of Cheese Salad is compromise - healthy recipes with Primal ingredients and a little extra for the family, and recipes that are made from non-Primal ingredients but won't wreck the caveman body, with plenty of Primal alternatives to popular (but dangerous) foods. Whenever possible, we offer the lesser of available evils - protein-stocked beans instead of noodles, rice instead of lectin-rich potatoes. At the same time, we make sure that all foods available are delicious - even to a dedicated non-caveman.
Most of the recipes on this site come from friends, family, or from Geri herself. A few others are modified versions of recipes that were found elsewhere but have since been lost.
